During our visit to Tasmania where my father served as a missionary, Sister Lindy Prebble met at the ship dock and took us to church with her in Hobart. After the meetings she fed us lunch and then took us about thirty miles south to Glen Huon where the first missionaries served. Sister Prebble gave us a book about the history of the mission in Tasmania. My father, Jeddie Bingham's name was on the tithing records. The full time missionaries sometimes worked to supplement the money they received from home. They chopped wood or picked apples to earn extra money. This picture was taken in front of the chapel in Glen Huon. Bernice took the picture of me, the current bishop, Sister Prebble, Alan and Sharon. This happened on March 4, 2007, during our cruise from Australia to New Zealand. It was wonderful to walk on the same ground where my father served his mission ninety years earlier, in 1914.

This is an older picture taken while we were in Bolivia. A number of Mayan Indians came to the temple to receive their endowments. We became very close to them so they invited us to a district conference near Lake Titicaca. After the meeting, they wanted me to have one of the hats they wear to keep their heads warm. I tried to convince them that they looked better than I ever could but they prevailed so here I am with the hat on. This picture was taken at the end of 2001.
Our plans are to travel north on May 22. We will be going straight north driving as far as Lake Powell the first day. After a night in the Lake Powell area, we will drive to Mt. Pleasant, Utah, and stay at Camper World's Pleasant Creek Resort. From there, we can get to Coalville in a little more than a half day. This will make it so we don't have any long days to travel. The doctor told Bernice that she should not try to travel at all until after six weeks. She was operated on May 11, so we will be pressing things a little. She still gets tired but is healing well and seems to be gaining strength every day. VerNon goes in to get his pacemaker checked on May 14. He hasn't had any more dizzy spells so it must be working. We wanted to be in Utah to see Carolee on May 4, as well as attend the blessing of Josh and Amie's new one on May 6, but things just didn't work out that way.
