Thursday moring, January 26, 2006, we left Mesa a little before 10:00 and drove to Henderson, Nevada. We arrived there about 4:00 p.m. It had been some time since we had taken time to really stop and visit with Marlan and Colleen Walker. Marlan and I were missionary companions in El Paso, Texas some fifty-seven years ago. We have been close friends since that time. Marlan helped me get started taking students to Mexico. He encouraged me to get my Master's Degree. When he was called to be president of the Lima Peru Temple, he ask me to serve as a counselor. We are sure that based on his recommendation, Bernice and I were chosen as president and matron of the temple in Bolivia. We spent a very enjoyable evening talking about trips we had taken and the many special experiences we have had since serving together as missionaries.

This is the upstairs fire place in our mountain lodge where we had our language camp. Bernice & I built one down stairs and this one. They worked beautifully. We will also include a picture of the chimney that I built outside. The camp functioned a few years without the fire places. We built them in about 1978.

About three hundred miles south of Nogales inside of Mexico there is a monument to a famous custom. It is the Yaqui Deer Dance. The hunters do this dance before going out to hunt deer. In Mexico City, in the Palace of Fine Arts, this deer dance is performed as one of the numbers. The agility of the young man doing the dance is something outstanding. The Yaqui Indians still exist in the state of Sonora as a separate culture. They have some wonderful traditions.

This picture was taken in August of 2004, during our family reunion at the Wolf Creek Resort. Elizabeth Bingham is in the kitchen with Grandma Bingham and David Jones. Today is Elizabeth's birthday. She was born twelve years ago on New Year's Day. She is a lovely young lady. David graduated in December from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He will be working in Boise, Idaho, starting this month. Grandma keeps Grandpa company in Arizona.
