This picture was taken at a park in Provo Canyon. Lee and Linda Coy had all of their children together for a family reunion. This was one of the several activities that they planned. It was nice that we could be with them. At far left are Brad and Meredith Coy; Briton and Carolee Beckham with VerNon & Bernice Bingham followed by Linda and Lee Coy. We decided to visit the Civil War battle field called, "Bull Run". This is a monument to Andrew "Stone Wall" Jackson. Bernice and I are with our son-in-law, Kent Hamilton and Sarah Jones, our grandson David's wife. The two little ones are Olivia and Ann. David is working on his doctorate in Michigan. They drove down to D.C. to visit his mother, Debra, our daughter. We made this visit on June 13, 2011.

We feel fortunate to have four of our grandchildren close enough in Mesa, Arizona, to be able to visit with them regularly. This picture was taken on December 29, 2011, the day of Michelles wedding. We had the privilege of visiting the Library of Congress and the Capital Building today, June 7, 2011. We even sat in on a session of the United States Senate for thirty minutes. The bill that was being presented was regarding the amount of money being collected by banks every time a debit card is used. According to the senitor from Illinois, the large banks don't need to charge such a high fee. We disappointed that only a few senators were in attendance. They evidently don't have regular working hours.

On May 26, 2011, we had the pleasure of visiting George Washington's plantation in Mount Vernon. We think about how much time he spent away from this wonderful place sacrificing for the benefit of a new nation. How grateful we are for his tremendous sacrifice.

The last of May and the first part of June we have been in Washington DC enjoying the great history of our wonderful country. This picture was taken June 6, 2011, after we had finished going through the aironotical museum. They call the space between the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building the mall. I am standing in the mall after coming out of the aironotical museum. It is wonderful that our leaders have tried to make history live so up-coming generations will be able to form a picture in their minds of what went into building the wonderful nation we have. My hope and prayer is that we will do what it takes to preserve our great nation.

Our daughter Debra and her husband Kent took us to the Muir Woods National Park to celebrate our sixty first wedding anniversary. The trees are being preserved so people can enjoy a part of nature that mibht have been destroyed for financial gain if not protected.

On Thanks Giving Day, November 25, 2010, two days after our sixty first anniversary, our daughter, Debra, and her husband, Kent, took us to visit Muir Woods National Park north of San Francisco, California. We enjoyed seen those hug readwood trees some of which were over 250 feet tall and were hundreds of years old. We enjoyed the two mile hike that we had to make to see thes impressive trees.

This a view of the front of the Hearst Castle that we visited Nov. 20, 2010. William Randolph Hearst was the new paper magnate who spent some nine million dollars over a twelve year period building the complex which was comprised of a number of guest houses, two swimming pools, a tennis court and acres of gardens. There were statues from all over the world plus many other imported things like tapestries, paintings and artifacts.

We were not disappointed in what we saw. We are standing in front of the visitor's center before riding the five miles up the hill in a bus to visit the castle.

The double A-Frame in the background was part of our language camp in Sharon, Idaho, two miles up north canyon road. In 1985, we remodeled the front part and built a thirty-two by twenty feet addition, half of which is visible at my left. Bernice and I did most of the building but we did have some help from several returned missionaries who served with us in Honduras. I had to do all of the roofing all by myself.

We stopped Cove Fort on our way from northern Utah back to Arizona. We were impressed with the fort and all of the living quarters enjoyed by the pioneers who lived here years ago. They did a lot with the tools they had.

My brother, Ronald Neil Bingham, passed away at age eighty-four. That makes four out of six who have gone on to meet their Maker. Two of us remain to see what more we can do with the Bingham name. I turned eight-seven in September and am still able to move around with relative ease. I will include a poem that I wrote in 1991 and finished a few weeks before my recent birthday. The poem explains how I feel about growing old.

It has been some time since I added any thing to my blog. We are presently enjoying the summer in Utah at different Camper World parks. We mainly visit Echo Island in Coalville, Knotty Pine in Woodland and Hot Springs near Tremonton. We can golf at Hot Springs and enjoy a swim in the hot spring water in the beautiful swimming pool or we can go fishing at the pond at Echo Island in Coalville. Bernice grew up in the Coalville area so we know a lot of folks when we attend church here. We can also visit family and friends in Salt Lake without a great deal of driving. We are entitled to a fish each every day. That makes twelve fish in the week since we don't fish on Sunday. We don't always catch two fish but most days we do. We love to eat fish and have several meals of fish each week. We can usually stay two weeks at a time but automatically qualify for one week. We meet a lot of good people in these parks. With our nice trailer it is a wonderful way to spend the summer.

Here we are on a cruise to Panama and other places of interest. This was 2005. The young man who waited on our table was Carlos from Honduras. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We enjoyed getting to know him.

On our way from Arizona to Utah, we always stop in Logandale, Nevada, to visit with Charlie and Twila Pulsipher. Larry and Janice Skousen drove down from St. George to spen an evening with us. Charlie painted the picture behind them. They both served as counselors in the Cochabamba Temple in Bolivia. It was nice to be with them from April 28, until May 4, 2010. We are presently in Orem, Utah, with our daughter, Linda and family.

Our daughter, Debra, was lecturing in Las Vegas, Nevada, so we visited her there on April 30, which was her birthday. It was a fun experience. We were b;y the Treasure Island area where we ate dinner and attended an acribat show which was very good.

We spent quite a lot of time with Aristides Buitrago and his family while we were in Honduras. This family is an example of what is happening all over the world through the efforts of the LDS missionaries. The reason that we and the Buitrago family are so close is that I, (VerNon Bingham) am the first one to talk to Aristides about the church. We have counted that so far there have been twelve people become members of the LDS Church because I intruduced Aristides to God's Plan of Happiness.

We were in Tugucigalpa, Honduras, after twenty-five years. Elder Gustavo Duarte arranged for a reunion of members and missionaries who remembered us from our service there between 1982 and 1985. Gladys, Gustavo, their daughters and three or four other sisters sang a special number expressing their love and friendship. We were very much touched by the outpouring of love that we felt This reunion was held in the Kennedy building on March 7, 2010.

While we were in San José, Costa Rica, Rachel took us to see the temple. It is beautiful like all of the other temples of the LDS Church. We felt that we were on sacred ground just being near the temple.

Steve and Rachel Dorsey took us to visit a britanical garden in San José, Costa Rica. Steve directs the Peace Corps there so that will be their residence for the next four years or more. They have a nice home and a guest house where we were invited to stay. We had a wonderful visit with them from March 4, until March 10, 2010.

Here we are in Orem, Utah, celebrating our sixtieth wedding anniversary the week of Thanksgiving 2009. We were married on November 23, 1949. We are still enjoying life together and are loving every moment we live. We have a wonderful family and many friends in many different parts of the world.

For a number of years we have taken a bus load of Senior Citizens back to Branson MO to watch some shows. We usually do this the day after Thanksgiving. This picture was taken at an outdoor theatre called, Silver City. We have been very fortunate to enjoy good weather on every trip. We have done this four different years. We have arranged buses, flights, hotels and shows. We may not do it any more because of age.

On most cruise ships there is a place to play different games. This ship had an enclosed place for table tennis. It was difficult to beat young chinese players but I could hold my own with most of the senior citizens.

In April of 2008, we spent twenty-one days on transatlantic cruise on a ship called the Royal Princess. This is a picture of on of the formal nights where they requested that we dress up for dinner. During that cruise we visited the Azore Islands, Irland, Portugal, two ports in England, Holand, France, the Keil Canal, Finland, St Petersburg, Russia, Estonia and Switzerland. The trip was very educational. We left from Utah and returned to Utah. The weather was very good in all of the countries until we returned to Utah. Up returning, we both caught colds.

When we took our transatlantic cruise last spring (2008), we went in the ship at the left. It holds 700 passengers while the one on the right holds about 2,500. We were able to go into smaller ports and cruise the Keil Canal from the North Sea to the Baltic Sea because of the smaller ship. We got acquainted with many more passengers than we could have done on a larger ship. The cruise was twenty-one days in length and took us to twelve different ports. It was very educational to visit all of those places.

While in Curacao, we met some other LDS members and went with them to visit the ocean not far from the chapel. We were impressed by this natural bridge. This was in April of 2009.

On our cruise in April, we stopped at Belize City and were pleased to have Harold Smith and his nephew meet us at the port. We spent most of the day with them. It was a wonderful reunion after twenty-five years. I set Harold apart as the first branch president in the Belize branch. He later served as district president and is presently serving as a counselor in the district presidencey. This picture was taken in front of the new building in Belize. This area is now under the El Salvador Mission.

We got together with some of the missionaries who served with us in the Cochabamba Bolivia Temple. When we opened the temple, we had no temple missionaries. Before we ended our mission two and one half years later, we had twelve couples. LaRue and Carolyn Lunt, the first couple at the left, joined us about three weeks after the temple opened. They came well prepared and help us survived. We appreciated all that followed as well.

The year (2008) we spent Christmas in California with Debra and Kent. We went north to Sutters Mill to see where the gold rush of '49 was started. We stopped in Sacramento on the way to see the temple. They have a very nice museum to commorate gold's discovery in California.
We also visited China Town in San Francisco and rode the cable cars up and down the hill. We stopped at Fisherman's Warf.
We went to Half Moon Bay to see the Tide Pools. The first visit was with the tide in. We saw a lot of seals on the beach. The second visit was with the tide out and we saw the pools with the varied forms of sea life.

From the peninsula in Mansanillo, Mexico, we could overlook the harbor and some of the hotels along the shore. This hotel is seen from the back side. In front there is a long, beautiful beach. We were on a hill where there were private residences owned by people from Canada, Arizona, Colorado and other places in the States. The climate is perfect during the winter months.

While in Manzanillo, Mexico, we asked our taxi driver to take us to where we could see some iguanas. We didn't know that they spent a lot of time in trees and that they were of different colors. We thought they were all green.

After we finished our twenty-one day transatlantic cruise on May 21, 2008, we were heading to the airport in Stokholm, Sweden, on a bus. We stopped at a stop light and a truck pulled up to the side of us. I couldn't believe my eyes at what I saw. I took a picture of the painting on the side of the truck and this is the picture.

When we were in Sydney, Nova Scotia, we saw this very large violin so took a picture of Bernice and Sharon with the ship in the background.

On the ship we had free dinning which means that we can eat with other people in different restaurants. Here is a picture of the Garden Room or cafeteria. Bernice is with Alan and Sharon.

On the upper deck of the ship there was a court to play basketball, soccer and other games. There was an exercise room and other nice things to do.

On October 8, 2008, we left the New York Harbor on a ten-day cruise to Quebec, Canada, and other and other beautiful northern harbors . We passed the Statue of Libertty that can be seen here in this picture.
